Curriculum

Students, both PM and NI course, need to fulfill the unit requirement on the following lectures. The requirements will be announced later.

Project Managing #1: General Introduction to Business, 2 units, first semester
  Professor Takeshi Kadota

Learn the basics of business administration and commercialization of technology.
Learn the key factors such as;

  • Management Theory, Macro Economics,
  • Finance (Venture Capital, M&A Fund),
  • Industrialization and Intellectual Property Rights.

Project Managing #2: Practical Business Strategy I, 2 units, first semester
  Professor Shigeru Miki and Professor Masahiko Tano

Learn the management of a company and the mechanism of free market economy.

  • Experience the process of corporate development from starting up a new company to properly structuring a growing corporation through case studies.
  • Examine the policy implications in expanding business.
  • Study the funding and resource requirements at different stages of corporate
    development as well as balancing the interests of various stakeholders.

Project Managing #4: General Introduction to Technology Management, 2 units, second semester
  Professor Kenji Furuta

Whole aspects of technology management such as technology strategy, various technology management processes, management resources such as human and financial resources and R&D organization.

Students also learn about new business strategy, IP management, R&D productivity etc having strong relationships with R&D. Expected final target is to develop business strategies by every student based on his/her own research theme at his/her doctor course programs.

Project Managing #5: Practical Business Strategy II, 2units, second semester
  Professor Shigeru Miki, Professor Masahiko Tano and Professor Takeshi Kadota

Lean to evaluate and choose business seeds.

  • learn the process of basic research in evaluating and choosing business seeds and formulation of their business visions.
  • then choose business seeds that are under development in Tokyo Tech, and formulate business strategies on them, which include market entry, corporate organization, and human resources.

Nanomaterials I: Design Criteria for Nanomaterials, first semester, 2 units

Nanomaterials II: Structure of Nanomaterials, first semester, 2 units

Nanomaterials III: Characterization of Nanomaterials, second semester, 2 units

Global Communication Skills I, 1 unit, first semester
Global Communication Skills II, 1 unit, second semester
  Professor Takagi and Professor Yoshinao Mishima

Learn the communication skills in English, which will be necessary in running business on a global scale.
First learn the basics of communication theory in Japanese by actually making presentations on assigned topics, students will be able to express themselves more clearly and cogently, first in Japanese and then in English. Efforts will be made to improve the students’ proficiency in English through lectures and homework.
